John Lewis

The family of John Douglas Lewis announces with sorrow his passing in the early morning of Monday, December 18, at the age of 88. He passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by his side.

John was born on January 30, 1935, in Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey, England, where he was raised and developed his love of soccer and honed his skills in sheet metal fabrication. He proudly played for the Kingstonians before coming to Toronto where he founded a stainless steel fabricating company, now owned and operated by his son David as Complete Stainless Solutions. “Mr Always Right”, he was kind, cheerful and always ready with a good pun.

He was predeceased in 2013 by his beloved wife, Helen. Dear father of Karen and David. Cherished grandfather of Sara, Carlee, Sherise, Austin and Eleni and great grandfather of Soleil and Camilo . He will be sadly missed by his sister Freda with whom he enjoyed many visits in recent years and sister-in-law Catherine (Ric), brother-in-law Eamon (Susan) and brother-in-law Matt (Audrey).

Predeceased by his parents Fred and Lottie, his siblings Joan, George, Ted, Bill and Audrey, as well as his son-in-law Robert (Karen). He dearly loved his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed his bi-weekly trans-continental quiz games with niece Anna and Dave during the pandemic, which helped him stay connected to family and England when travel was not possible.

A service will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel, 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, M9N 1X7, on Friday, July 26, 10:30 am. Internment will follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery.
