John Louis Fioze, 83, of Toronto, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
John was a devoted father, a cherished brother, and a mentor to countless young people whose lives he touched. His passion for soccer extended far beyond the field. He loved coaching and guiding youth, instilling not only skill, but also confidence, discipline, and teamwork in everyone he worked with.
John will also be remembered for his love of gardening. Whether planting flowers, growing vegetables, or simply spending time outdoors, gardening was one of the many ways he expressed his care for the world around him.
He is survived by his family Lorie Fioze, Glenn Booker, Johnnie Fioze, Kelsie Petitti, Joe Petitti, and his beloved grandchildren Taziah, Jaden, Aria, Emma, Nico, and Andres. who will miss him deeply. John was not a man of long conversations, but when it mattered most, he always found the right words for his family often beginning with, “Be strong.” In his own quiet way, he showed his love through his presence, his support, and by being there when his family needed him most.
He will also be deeply missed by his family, especially his sister, Roseann. The two shared a lifelong bond built on love, loyalty, and looking out for one another. Through life’s ups and downs, they took care of each other and remained a constant source of support and companionship.
John is now reunited with his brother, Rob, and his beloved mother and father. The family takes comfort in imagining them together again, welcoming him home with love and peace.
A celebration of John’s life will be held during the summer months, where friends and family will gather to share memories and honour his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/ or to a youth sports organization in his memory as both causes were close to his heart.
