Joao Carlos Da Silva Rego, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at Brampton Civic Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 20, 1947, in Portugal, Joao embraced life with an introspective and gentle spirit that resonated deeply with those fortunate enough to know him.
Joao dedicated 53 wonderful years to his wife, Maria Madalena, who was his steadfast companion and partner in all of life’s adventures. Together, they nurtured a family that brought him immense joy and pride. Joao is survived by his three sons, Charles (Anita), Steve (Rachel), and Bobby (Melanie), who carry on his legacy and values with the profound love and respect he instilled in them. As a devoted Vovo, Joao took great pride in his grandchildren: Gabriel, Valentina, Jaden, Allie, and Maverick, who were a constant source of happiness and joy in his life.
Joao cherished the simple pleasures of life, finding great enjoyment in gatherings with friends and family. He had a knack for creating a welcoming atmosphere where warmth and laughter thrived. His love of a good glass of wine was often paired with heartfelt conversations and celebrations, signifying a life rich in connections. In his younger days, Joao loved music, parties and dancing, reveling in the rhythm of life that brought him and others together. His heart also belonged to football; he was an ardent fan of S.L. Benfica, and he shared this love, often discussing matches and the excitement of the sport.
Joao leaves behind cherished memories with his siblings, Jose, Antero, and Graca, alongside the memory of his late brother, Albano and parents, Jose and Isabel Rego. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
