Joan Elizabeth Matthews

Joan Elizabeth Matthews (nee Moore), 87 passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Joan was born in Brampton, Ontario to parents Sarah and William Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Tony, sister Eileen Knox and brother Dave Moore.

Having worked for many years at CIL - AT Plastics Joan retired early and enjoyed many years of travel with Tony in their beloved truck and camper. Joan was an active and devoted member of her church in Brampton and later found great comfort and community at her new church in Pickering.

Joan faced many health challenges that eventually limited her activities and she devoted herself to crocheting teddy bears and baby blankets for donation, building jigsaw puzzles, reading and catering to her cat Archie kept Joan busy in later years.

She is survived by her daughter Lori and husband Craig, cherished granddaughter Katelyn Newman and husband Peter and a very sad cat Archie.
