Jean grew up in Mary Hill, a section of Glasgow. After leaving school she trained as a machinist (sewing), where she ended up making uniforms for the military during the war. In order to get out of that job, she and a friend signed up for the Timber Core for the rest of the war.

She married William Scott in 1951, had a son, then came to Canada by ship in October of 1952. Here she worked at small retail jobs, and then had Donna in 1958. This period was marked by alot of moving around to different apartments in the Weston/Rexdale area, until settling into the apartments near the corner of Bergamot and Islington Ave. later in 1958. This was to be her home up to 2013. In that time she moved to two other apartment bracketting the intersection, and finally ending up at the Highway Terraces apartments.

During her life in Rexdale she first worked out of the home doing baby sitting and making clothes for people, until both her kids were independent enough that she could take a job at Sears where she worked in the customer service department until she retired. When both she and William were retired, they purchased a trailer in Florida, and spent winters there until William passed in 1998. It was at this time she moved to The Highway Terrace Apartments where she stayed until a broken hip effectively sent her to Extendicare in Brampton in 2013.

She was greatly Loved by many, and will be sorely missed
