Jean McKinnon
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean McKinnon, who passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
Born on June 25, 1934, in Londonderry Ireland, Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She spent her life caring for the people she loved and was known for her warmth, generosity, kindness, and wonderful sense of humour.
Jean married her beloved husband, Billy, and together they emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1963 where they built a life filled with family, friendship, and countless cherished memories. She was the proud mother of two children and a loving grandmother to three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy and happiness.
Jean enjoyed baking, knitting, reading, and spending summer afternoons with her family. Her home was always open to family and friends, and no one ever left without being offered something to eat. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, comfortable, and loved.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, William(Billy); her daughter, Carol; her son in-law Rudy; her parents, William and Agnes Sherrard; and her siblings, Nan, Margaret, Sam, and Billy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Iain; daughter in-law Angel, her sister, Betty; her three grandchildren, Alexander, Megan, and Marlo; granddaughter in-law Julie; her two great-grandchildren, William and Adam; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love, kindness, laughter, and cherished memories she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Mrs. McKinnon's memory.
