In the Lord’s perfect timing, He called home His child, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jane Tenhage, on February 22, 2026, at the age of 86 years, after a struggle with cancer.
Jannetje was born on March 13, 1939 in Zalk, the Netherlands to Hendrik and Hendrikje Vis. She moved to Canada with her family at the age of 11 in 1950.
Jane married Bert Tenhage on October 7, 1960, and they were blessed with 9 children.
When Jane was 14 years old, the Lord called her mother home at the age of 35. As the oldest daughter, Jane took on the role of caring for the family and managing the household. This was a big task for her, but this was the beginning of what would be a life of service.
Jane will be missed by her children Henry & Shirley Tenhage, Marianne and Albert Bultena, Gord & Charlene Tenhage, Arlene Gallantry & Dan Quick, Stan & Angela Tenhage, Jeff & Annette Tenhage, Joyce & Titus Villanueva, Jason & Linda Tenhage, and Rod & Jolene Tenhage. She will also be remembered fondly by her 50 grandchildren, their spouses and her 67 great-grandchildren.
Dear sister of Henny (Nick♱) Mans, John (Nellie) Vis, Geraldine (Kees♱) Stieva, Gary♱ (Theresa) Vis, Anne (Harry) VanBodegom, Wilma (Ed) VanderVelde, and Christine (Gert♱) Stieva. Dear sister-in-law of Bertha (Auke♱) Hoekstra, Joop♱ (Alice) Tenhage, Cor (Hennie) Tenhage, Jean (John♱) VanHemert, Larry♱ (Alice♱) Tenhage, Jennie (Maarten♱) VanDriel, and Margaret (Jake) Kuizenga.
She was predeceased by her infant grandson Tanner Tenhage, and infant great-granddaughters Rosie VanderHeide and Micah Bootsma.
Visitation will be held at the Grace Canadian Reformed Church in Brampton on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. at the Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery in Brampton; everyone is welcome.
