Jane Mackinnon

Jane MacKinnon “Janie”, formerly of River Ryan, Scotchtown, Cape Breton Island was a caring wife of the deceased Duncan MacKinnon and loving mother to Michael (Becky, Corry, Dione, Jaime & Kendra), Ronnie (Linda, Jeffrey & Kristi), Bonnie (Pat & Evan), Trea (Regan & Darragh R.I.P) and her baby Connie (The Ganch & Jane-Ann). As well, we acknowledge her great grandchildren, many loved nieces and nephews and her brother and sisters - survived by Tuddy MacIntyre, Rosie MacMullin (Buzzy), Kaye Hanrahan and Colleen MacPherson (Junior).  We are comforted to know she is now at rest with her brother Junior, and sisters Margie, Mary, Florence and Belle. 

Janie was born to Margaret “Peggy” nee MacLellan and Anthony MacPherson on September 2, 1928 and passed away peacefully from natural causes on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the age of 95 with her daughter Bonnie by her side.

Janie was known for her hospitality, generosity, quick wit, her bling and of course her biscuits. She loved Cape Breton fiddle music, step dancing, going to Bingo and entertaining good company.  She will be missed by all who knew her. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Hawthorne Place Care Centre, Janie's home for the past two years. 

In lieu flowers, donations to either the Alzheimer Society of Ontario or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
