After a courageous battle with a sudden and rapid illness, Jack passed peacefully under the care of the tremendous staff at Mt. Sinai Hospital ACE Unit on Wednesday May 1st, 2013 at the age of 78. Jack is remembered for his love, humour and kindness by his son Christian Buhagiar and wife Melodie, granddaughters Elliana and Emilia, his brothers Joseph, Carmel, and John Buhagiar, his cousin Doris Spiteri (Lino), and by his numerous friends including his mall walking friends at Scarborough Town Centre. Predeceased by his parents Paul Buhagiar and Nina Buhagiar, his brother Francis Buhagiar, and his former wife Mavis Buhagiar.
Born in Malta, Jack was a truly dedicated father and grandfather who spent his career with Canada Post, his retirement traveling to see friends in Cuba, and helping his son with home renovations. Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd., Weston (North of Lawrence) on Thursday May 9th from 10am - 12noon and from 6pm - 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 49 George Street Weston, on Saturday May 11th, 2013 at 11am. Private cremation. Private interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers and cards, all of those who were touched by Jack are asked to kindly make a donation in his memory to Orde Day Care (18 Orde Street, Toronto, M5T 1N7).
