Passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday May 29, 2026 at the age of 90. Devoted wife of the late George Stanley. Proud mother of Jacqui, Carol, Dawn (Jude) and Georgina. Cherished Mum Mum of Jerome, Crystle, Shannon (Khaleel), Terrell (Nikayla), Jared (Victoria), Janee (JJ), Maurice, Tiana, Celeste, Kaedin and Kelis. Loving Great Mum Mum of Sebastian, Jace, Xayn, Caelum, Khaleesi, Kyrie and Olivia. She will be greatly missed by her many family and friends. Ivy has been reunited with the love of her life George.
Ivy was born to loving parents Ferdinand and Mabel Levy in St. Mary Jamaica which was always home regardless where she lived. “you can take the girl out of Jamaica, but you can’t take Jamaica out of the girl.”
When Ivy was 17 she moved to London England. Her sense of fashion and her grace made her the prime candidate to work at the prestigious London department store Barbers.
It was in London that she met a handsome young man who approached her inquiring about the shade of lipstick she was wearing. She must have been intrigued by him as he turned out to be the love of her life and later her dear husband George.
The young couple started their family in London bring three beautiful girls into the world. In 1967 George and Ivy picked up their family and made the move to Canada.
In 1968 Ivy gave birth to her last beautiful daughter, Georgina.
The couple worked hard to provide for their family. When they had time together George and Ivy enjoyed going out dancing and listening to music. Family was so important to Ivy and there is nothing she put ahead of her Grand and Great Grandchildren as they were her heart and soul.
Sadly in July 2006, George passed away which left a huge void in our lives. It is comforting to know they Mum and Dad are once again together, dancing on clouds to the rhythms of Jamaica.
“Forever loved, always remembered.”
We would like to thank Ivy’s caregivers who took amazing care of her. Thank you so much Irma, Lydia and Joan. Wendie and her team at The Glow Program and Denise and her team at Service In Your City as well as Circle of Care and St. Elizabeth. You are all amazing, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Friday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 6, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Parish 2889 Islington Ave., North York.
