Italo Risio

February 15, 1947 — July 1, 2025

Italo Risio

Passed away peacefully at home in Brampton, after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. He was a loving father to Nadia (Marcus) and James (Candice). Proud Nonno to Quintino, Maximus, Cristiano, Rosslyn and Juliano. Italo is survived by his younger brothers Carmine and Franco (in Cocullo, L’Aquila, Italy) and nephew Alessandro. Predeceased by his loving parents Quintino and Cortina, wife Debra and many Zio’s, Zia’s, Cousins and Friends.

Italo will be remembered for his laugh and love of telling jokes and stories. He had many stories; however, the ones remembered most are from his days growing up in Cocullo Italy, his time in the army, his many youthful adventures back home and here in Canada, the annual feasts of St. Domenico and his mother’s celebration of 100+ years. He was known for his extremely hardworking, serious, dedicated demeanour throughout his entire career. He was a man of many talents…an auto body mechanic, baker, drywaller, welder and CNC bender by trade. There wasn’t a project he couldn’t tackle! He loved lending a hand to his family, friends and neighbours, gardening, fishing/hunting, sitting outside at home or the cottage, watching F1 and World Cup and playing with his grandkids when he was in better health. Italo was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Italo's family would like to thank his many Nurses and PSWs. However, they are specifically grateful to the exceptional love and care provided by Kiran, Barbara and Sonje who comforted him to the very end and became a part of their family over the years.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, Brampton Chapel, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, on Thursday, July 17 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 66 Main Street South, Brampton on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. A Private Interment at a future date will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery, Etobicoke.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Sinai Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and/or West Park Healthcare Centre.
