It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Morson (nee Carli) on September 11, 2023. She died peacefully surrounded by family following a short battle with cancer. Irene is finally reunited with Dino, her beloved husband of 58 years. Irene was born on September 11, 1934 in Toronto, Ontario to Ermenegildo and Santa (nee Trevisanutto) Carli. She was a loving mother to Denise (Loris) Moretto, Laura (George) Pasut and Jo-Ann (Dino) Genise. She was a devoted and cherished Nonna to Peter, Alicia (David), Alana, Daniel (Helen), Marisa (Matthew), Michael, Marc and a treasured Nonna Bisa to her great grandson Logan.

She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Enzo Carli (Maureen), brothers-in-law Peter Morson (the late Anita), Renzo Morson (Sara), sisters-in-law Vicky (Tony) Del Bianco and Delfina (Nick) Sclauzero and by all of her many nephews and nieces.

She will be greatly missed by her cousins here in Canada as well as in the USA and Italy. Her loss will be deeply felt by all her dearest friends.

A sincere thank you to all the staff at the Runnymede Healthcare Centre who provided her with supportive and attentive care for the past 3 months. Finally, a special thank you to Geraldine who with gentle grace and compassion assisted and cared for her during the final course of her illness.

Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home Weston Chapel, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 2 Richardson Avenue, Toronto. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Runnymede Healthcare Centre.
