Loved and respected by all who knew her, for her grace, generosity, strength and gift for friendship. Loving wife of the late Orville R. Beattie (retired RCAF). Dear mother of the late Kenneth and Brian Beattie. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Beverley Niece (Donald) and daughter-in-law Marion Beattie (Brian).
Devoted grandmother to Stephen Niece (Tiffany); Jennifer Niece (Victor Gedris); and devoted great-grandmother to Thomas, Hunter, Isaac, and Alex. Predeceased by sisters Martha McClurg, Helen Mackson, Kate Couverette, Lois Roud, Edna Finnegan, and brother Campbell Mills. Survived by brother Keith Mills and sister Doris Lesway. Fondly remembered by loving nieces and nephews in Ottawa.
Irene was a knitter for the newborn ward baby bonnets at Peel Memorial and Brampton Civic Hospitals. She was a long term Blue Jays fan and was well known for her shortbread cookies.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa at a later date.
