Peacefully at Bradford Valley Care Community with family by her side on July 20, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Grant Boyce (2020). Loving and devoted mother to Glen (Karen), Marion Kemp (Stan) and Nancy Kitchener (Gary). Proud grandmother of Tom, Scott (Jessica), Leslie (Tom), Jeffrey (Sarah), Todd (Lexi), Olivia (Mitch) and Chad. Cherished great grandmother of Raegen, Deacon, Madelyn, Annabelle, Shae and Vaia. Predeceased by her parents Oscar and Olive and her sister Joyce Merritt.

Irene was a faithful lifetime member of Woodbridge United and the UCW, assisting at many church events over the years. She valued community and was very involved in many organizations that allowed her to give back in a way that she loved. She was also an avid gardener and is remembered by her family for the wonderful pickling and preserves she made from the bounties of her garden. Some of her other hobbies included sewing and doing needlepoint. 

She always cherished the time spent on the family farm alongside her husband Grant and together they enjoyed hosting family and friends, often with Irene playing the piano to those who loved to listen. They travelled with friends on many occasions and had some fond memories of those trips. 

She was a lady that took pride in her appearance…always dressed to the nines, she made sure she was always presentable wherever she went. 

Her generosity, kindness and boundless love for those around her will always be remembered by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:30 a.m. in the Ward Funeral Home chapel. Interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton.
