Ilario Barale

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ilario while surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 28, 2018; at the age of 55. Beloved husband to Rita Sanelli-Barale and cherished father to Daniel and Madeleine. Loving brother to Laura (Tarcisio) and her family, uncle to Daniela, Davide and Mauro and their respective spouses. Remembered by the Sanelli family that he considered his own ; including brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Missed by his devoted four-legged companion, Molly.

Ilario was a hard-working and dedicated family man who devoted a great deal of time to his many passions. His love for sports included participating in both volleyball and bowling leagues, or every week-end he could be found on a pitch coaching soccer teams and organizing the next tournament as he was on the board of directors for the Rebels. Often just in front of a TV enjoying a match. He was a true sports fan; he was a fan of the game as he could often be heard remarking about a great game; even if his beloved "Juventus FC" lost.

Aside from his sports abilities, Ilario knew a good song when he heard it and his love for music led him to one of his proudest "spotlights"; being the lighting technician for the Italian band "I Nomadi".

He also loved spending time outdoors enjoying fishing, camping and experiencing "The Grotto" in Bruce Peninsula National Park. A testament to the kind of person he was, Ilario was happiest when he could share his experiences with family and friends.

Ilario loved cooking especially with his family. He enjoyed getting his hands dirty to make home-made gnocchi with his daughter. He loved good food and vino. He also loved to experiment with beer-making with his soon-to-be brewmaster son. Ilario loved to try different restaurants with his family.

Through Ilario's difficult illness; his family was blessed to be surrounded by many caring and compassionate individuals. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Ein, Vivian from Saint Elizabeth Health Care, the staff at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre and Princess Margaret Hospital and the staff at Dorothy Ley Hospice. Ilario will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and many organizations.

Visitation will take place at Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway #7, Woodbridge) on Monday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Benedict Catholic Church (2194 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke) on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to
"Jumpstart" or the Dorothy Ley Hospice would be appreciated.
