It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather Ikuo Shiozaki after a brave fight with Alzheimer’s, on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the age of 94.
Ikuo (Ike) Shiozaki was a man with many passions and talents. His greatest passion was family. He was happily married to his late wife Christina for 62 years. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with family, especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved playing and watching sports, his favourite being baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was an avid 10-pin bowler having achieved three perfect games in his lifetime and he also enjoyed playing golf. In his retirement years, he found joy in gardening and even more joy in sharing the fruits of his labour with neighbours, friends and family. Singing and acting were some of his other talents and he found great happiness in performing in concerts.
Ikuo will be remembered with love by his children, Sandy and husband Jim and Patty and husband Greg, his daughter-in-law Lisa, his grandchildren, Amber and husband Mauricio, Krista and husband Monir, Kevin and wife Dayna, Mark, Caitlin and Juan, Thomas and wife Jacqueline and step-grandchildren Adam, and Patrick and wife Calla, great-grandchildren, Jaedyn, Cruz, Lennox, Ava, and Levi and step-great grandchildren Esmeralda and Jillian, his brother Eini and wife Tomoyo and his many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Ikuo was predeceased by his wife Christina, his son Douglas and his brothers Toshiro and Namio.
Thank you to all the staff at Extendicare Burloak for caring for our Father for so many years. And special thanks to Ati (Benedicta/Hanako) and Omon (Cynthia/Sakura) of Mercie Homecare for the special love, care and respect they showed our Father (Papa) for 5 years. You will always be in our family’s hearts forever.
