Ida Brandt-Kuehn (Rosenmeier)
January 10, 1937 – August 6, 2026
The Brandt-Welzel family announces the passing of Ida Brandt-Kuehn, affectionately known to many as Mrs. Brandt, and to her family as Oma and Grand-Oma. Ida passed peacefully following a short health battle and is now reunited with her husband, the late Gerhard Brandt (1977), and Heinz Kuehn (1995), as well as her siblings Rudolf, Otto and Else.
Born in Fürth, Germany, Ida was the youngest of four children. She is survived by her daughters, Petra and Brigitte (Richard); grandchildren Susanne (Mike), Simone, Brian, Melissa (Grant) and Richard (Rebecca); and great-grandchildren Jannick, Henry, Richard, Ivy, Nathan and Ella, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Ida’s story began at the start of the Second World War. Her early years were shaped by hardship and survival, experiences that would influence the strength and determination she carried throughout her life.
In 1958, Ida made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada. She soon met Gerhard, and they married shortly thereafter. Together, they began what would become the family business, Brandt Meats. When Gerhard passed suddenly in 1977, Ida continued what they had started. Through determination, hard work and an unwavering commitment to doing things right, she helped build Brandt Meats into the business it is today.
Ida found a special connection with the Brandt Factory Outlet and European Market, where she continued to work and greet generations of loyal customers. She loved the relationships she built with her colleagues and the people who walked through the doors, understanding that a reputation is built one detail at a time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Brandt’s name may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
