Henry (Heinrich) Sich

Henry (Heinrich) Sich started his life journey (born 1930) on a family farm in the forests along the borders of Poland and Germany in pre-WW2, and worked hard to build the same dream in Canada. Henry was youngest of seven brothers and sisters, all pre-deceased. He loved nature, fishing, and hunting, especially with family and friends. Before he left Bremen, Germany for Canada in 1953, he learned 2 trades, and played soccer for the Werder Bremen junior team. Using masonry as a career, he travelled across Canada before settling in the greater Toronto area.

Henry wed Martha (nee Ehmann) in 1957, who unfortunately passed away in 1979. They raised 3 sons, Harold, Norbert and Mark (Vesna). Together they improved homes in Toronto and Bramalea, and built a large cottage near Wasaga Beach. Henry always worked hard to provide opportunities for his family. Sunday family picnics and short trips into nature were common. He

relived his childhood dream, moving to a farm near Singhampton with major forested areas, a river and a large trout pond. Once again nature, fishing, and hunting with family and friends became a big part of his life.

He was a proud and loving grandfather of Mark's children, Kelly, Kendra (Sejdi), Keenan, and Kyle. Henry enjoyed his grandchildren immensely, and loved spending as much time as possible with them. They all have fond memories of fishing, going for walks in the back bush and even tobogganing with their Opa.His stories and sense of humour will remain with us.

Dementia is a cruel disease, as it slowly diminished Henry's vitality in his last few years, but even then his humour came through. Henry passed away on November 29, 2025, and his 95 years was a clear demonstration of family, opportunities, hard work, and to follow your passion. Thank you to the manycare workers that brought joy to Henry. Rest in peace Dad as you join Mom.
