The years I spent with Giuseppe in my life were filled with excitement and adventure. He showed
up for life in the biggest way possible. From the moment we first met Christmas Eve 20 years ago, I knew we would be best of friends. Giuseppe’s kindness, generosity, and his willingness to accept me and everyone he met was a true testament of his character.

Giuseppe Pileggi, son of Tommaso and Maria-Teresa was born in San Nicola Da Crissa, Calabria, Italy on June 24th, 1928, officially registered and celebrated on August 2nd, 1928. Giuseppe met the love of his life Teresa nee Galati, and they married on October 4th, 1952. The couple immigrated to Canada March 22nd, 1954, with the hope of becoming successful, to start a family so that his family can experience unlimited opportunities in Canada.

Giuseppe and Teresa enjoyed each other, which allowed them to experience all that Canada had to offer from travelling to various cities within Canada and the United States, to visiting various tourist attractions, parks, beaches, festivals and enjoying the company of friends and family. Giuseppe’s heart was big enough to love and admire his 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Even though Giuseppe didn’t like to be the centre of attention, he had an undeniable impact on the those he met through the past 95 years of his life. If he was here today, he wouldn’t want us to share grief and sorrow; Instead, his desire would be to focus on happy memories and joyful experiences shared over the years.

Giuseppe was a man who set a lasting impression on everyone he met. His quiet chuckle and kind eyes warmed the room and brought life into the most boring daily activities. Giuseppe loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren because he said it made him feel young at heart.

Giuseppe was a great man with an abundance of knowledge and a dependable friend. His advice and guidance will continue to carry those he touched over the years through the joys and challenges that life has to offer.
