Our beloved Mother passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2026 at the age of 92.

Born on October 7th, 1933 in Rome, Italy, she was an orphan . From a young age, she enjoyed learning and went as far as Grade 3 before school had stopped for her. Children learned to work at a young age when they were told continuing education was not for them. This did not stop her from continuing her education when she finally emigrated to Canada in 1955. She married Enrico Presutto in Bolognano, Italy on April 3rd, 1951. She came by boat with her infant daughter Lucia the year following. It was not an easy passage from the few conversations that we had about the voyage.

Throughout her life, Giovanna was known for caring for and loving deeply her family and close friends. She was always cooking fabulous meals for as many people as could fit at the kitchen table. She was well known for amazing meals and fabulous baking of classic Italian pastries.

She was a hard worker who spent many years at various jobs from chocolate factory, garment making and retail pharmacy. She spent many years as a devoted Catholic and attended mass at Our Lady of Victory every week for many many years.

She will be deeply missed by daughter Lucia and husband Yoav, son Piero , grandchildren Laura, Jennifer, Aaron, Nicole, Ryan, Enrico, Kristianne, Madison and their respective mates and also great grandchildren, Joey, Joshua, Mendy, Rocheleah, Shayna, Chaya, Yaakov, James, Jason, Isla ,Ellie,Isla, Russel, Parker, Olivia. She was predeceased by her husband Enrico and by her beloved son, Marco .

Giovanna was known by all who knew her to be kind, considerate, generous, spiritual and warm in every possible way. She had an infectious laugh and was always looking for ways to improve and enrich the lives of all family and close friends.

Her legacy lives on in with all of her grandchildren who were all deeply enriched by her love. She was a devoted grandmother who cared for all of them directly at one time or another. Her smile will live on in the thoughts and minds of all who knew her.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Homes, Weston Chapel 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, ON . on Monday, January 19th from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM.

A Funeral Mass for Giovanna will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 117 Guestville Ave. York, ON at 10AM on Tuesday, January 20th. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. Reception to follow at Desserts Plus on Weston Road at 12:30.

Mom loved carnations, but also did donate a lot to the Salvation Army.
