Born in Doze Ribeiras, Terceira, Acores to Joao da Rocha Mendes and Belmira Ferreira Alves. Sister to Odette, Joao, Jose, Esmeralda, Mario, Manuel and Arlete. Married Feb 14, 1960 to Luis de Sousa Romeiro. They immigrated Immigrated to Canada April 1, 1971 in search of a better future for themselves and their children.
Mother of Louisa Maria Mendes Romeiro Humphreys and Louis Manuel Mendes Romeiro. Grandmother of Alanna Homuth (Clinton) and Connor Humphreys (Anna). Great-grandmother of Harlan and Gibson.
She passed peacefully in the early morning of April 9, 2024 to join her husband (Luis), son (Louis) and sister (Esmeralda).
She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her love of gardening and cooking. Everyone was always welcomed into her home and fed.
