On Sunday, March 6th, 2016, Gettuglio passed away peacefully with family by his side after a long journey with ailing health. Gettuglio was born on February 7th, 1931, in the town of Rocca San Giovanni, Chieti, Italy, to parents Domenico and Assunta Del Pellaro. It was here, as a youth, that Gettuglio developed the love for his lifelong passion, cycling. With the encouragement of friends and family, Gettuglio became an extremely successful and honoured athlete. Gettuglio proved his athleticism by winning over 200 trophies. Upon meeting Giustina, Gettuglio decided to take a break from cycling and settle down. He left Rocca San Giovanni in 1956 to follow the love of his life and immigrate to Toronto, Canada. It was in Toronto that Gettuglio and Giustina married and started a family. Over the following years they had three children: Gino, Maria-Assunta and Domenico. Gettuglio was always a lively, caring and generous person who loved being in the company of friends and loved ones. He will always be remembered for his love of sports, hunting, playing cards, and above all else, the immense love he had for his family. Gettuglio will be greatly missed by his wife Giustina, his son Domenico, his daughter Maria-Assunta and son-in-law Mario. Gettuglio will forever be held in the hearts of his grandchildren Sara, Rebecca, Alexander, and Matthew. We will love and miss you always.
