KELLY, Gary Edward (July 18th 1952 – January 31st, 2016)
Gary Kelly of Mississauga; passed away peacefully in Toronto on January 31st in his 64th year after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Dianne Kelly (nee MacLeod) and loving father of Christopher (Deborah), Allison (Kelly), Michael and Scott. Devoted son of the late Herbert Kelly (1982) and the late Selina Jane Kelly (2015); youngest brother to Myrna Morgan (George) and Brian Kelly (Aspa). Loving Grandfather to Tyler and Gavin Brunn.
Gary was born and raised in Montréal, Quebec. After graduating from the University of Montreal (Loyola) in 1974 with a B. Commerce in Business Administration, he went on to complete his MBA in Finance & Policy at York University in 1981. He spent the majority of his professional career working in the banking industry within the Toronto area (retired executive with 25 years tenure at The Bank of Montreal and several years with the Business Development Bank of Canada). On a part-time basis, he also taught business classes at the University of Toronto. Gary developed many friendships throughout his banking career and was a mentor and teacher to colleagues and clients.
Gary married Dianne MacLeod in 1976 in Montreal. They then moved to Mississauga in 1977 and raised their family. Gary put his role as a husband and father above everything. He was indeed the glue that held the family together, providing advice and help whenever it was needed. A longstanding member of the Weston Golf and Country Club, Gary was a key contributor to the Weston Charity Classic. He also had a deep passion for model railroading and enjoyed his contributions to the Peel County “N” Gineers Model Railroad Club. Over the years Gary and Dianne enjoyed travelling with family and friends to such places as England, Italy, Greece and most recently Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand this past November.
Gary will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
Visitation will commence at 2:00pm followed by a celebration of life at Ward Funeral Home 2035 Weston Rd (North of Lawrence Ave, W) Weston on Saturday February 6th .
