Gary William Barclay passed away, marking the close of a life shaped by independence, physical work and a strong connection to land and history.
Raised in Canada his entire life, Gary followed a varied working path that reflected determination and adaptability. In his early years, he was a professional boxer, a pursuit that demanded discipline and resilience. He later worked as a bricklayer before becoming a home builder, eventually concluding his career in real estate.
Outside of work, he enjoyed vast pieces of land and time spent around lakes, where he found space and quiet. He also took interest in raising family dogs and horses and maintained a long-standing enthusiasm for military history as a war enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gemma; his sons Nigel, Richard and Ryan; and his grandchildren Cameron, Hudson, Patrick, Ruby and Daisy. He was predeceased by his son Alex, who passed away eight years ago.
Gary will be remembered for the life he lived, the work he pursued and the paths he chose.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Clear Foundation or Baycrest Foundation in Gary's memory would be greatly appreciated.
