McDERMOTT, GABRIELLE MARIE - Peacefully on October 3rd, after a brief illness, at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital where she had spent most of her nursing career. Sister of Helen Maybee and Catherine McDermott and the late Robert and the late Edward. Sister-in-law of Joy McDermott and the late Arthur Maybee and the late Nadine McDermott. Gabrielle will be missed by her twelve nieces and nephews, their spouses and their children and her many friends. She will be remembered for her faith, independence, leadership and loyalty to those whom she loved, including her basset hounds and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Visitation will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Thursday, October 7th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Friday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to Share Life – St. Andrew’s, the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar Foundation Inc., Acclaim Health and Community Care Services or a charity of your choice .
