Fred Kerr

With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we share that Fred passed away suddenly yet peacefully on March 9, 2026, just weeks before his 97th birthday.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Jean Kerr, all of his 10 siblings, and his beloved son, Darren.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley. He was a devoted father to Heather and a cherished Papa to his granddaughter Alexandra and great-grandson Avyon. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, and his church family at Downsview Baptist Church.

Fred worked for many years as a radio dispatcher for the Ministry of Transportation before retiring. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—spending time with family, doing crossword puzzles, and especially playing with his great-grandson. It was also common to hear Fred humming or softly singing one of his favourite hymns, reflecting the deep faith that guided his life.

Fred loved the Lord and lived with a quiet, steady faith that was evident to all who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Saviour and reunited with his beloved son Darren.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
