FENTON, FRANCES MARGARET ROSE (nee WADE)
We lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on July
17, 2021. Frances was born September 23, 1930, at 105 Southampton Street
in London, England.
Frances’ whole life has been about caring for other people. Growing up during
wartime strengthened her sense of compassion, shaping her path to a career
of caregiving. Frances began nursing in 1949 at The Royal Devon and Exeter
Hospital in London, England.
Always the adventurer, nursing took Frances on many travels. She spent time
working at the Mayo Clinic prior to arriving in Toronto, Canada, where she
nursed at the Toronto East General and Princess Margaret Hospitals.
It was in Toronto where Frances met and married her husband, William.
Together over 59 years, they enjoyed raising a loving family. She is sorely
missed by her children William, Anita (Craig), Nicola, Heather, her
grandchildren Chris, Lucas (Lindsay), William, Dana, Sonya, Paz, Scout, and
her great-granddaughter Quinn.
She was a formidable bridge player. A ‘Queen of Hearts’ to her many longtime
friends who will miss her greatly. An avid reader, Frances never stopped
learning. A creative soul, Frances picked up a paint brush late in life and
shared her art with friends and loved ones.
Always genuine, generous and present, Frances’ gift was in making time for
everyone in her life. The ultimate hostess, Frances loved a get-together and
welcomed countless friends, families and neighbours to the Fenton home for
decades of joy.
As an endless source of love, humour and kindness, she was and will remain
the very heart and rock of our family.
If you wish to make a donation in her name, Frances was a long time
supporter of the Bethell Hospice Foundation
