Filomena Gabriele (nee Iafrate)

Passed away peacefully with the love of her family by her side, on Wednesday January 31, 2024, at the age of 91. She was the devoted wife of 51 years, to the late Antonio, with whom she is now reunited. Proud mother of Maurizio (Bessey) and Anna Maria (Ron). Cherished grandmother of Chantal (Matt), John Anthony, and Natalie. The loving sister of Giuseppina and Tonino. She will be profoundly missed by many friends and family.

Filomena was born August 7, 1932, to Ferdinando and Ersilia Iafrate, in Arpino, Frosinone Italy, where as a beautiful young woman she attracted the attention of Antonio before coming to Canada. Filomena and Antonio married in Toronto in 1960 where they began a beautiful life together in the company of many friends and family. Their home was always a welcoming, gathering place. Filomena was renowned for her delicious pasta, famous lasagna and perfectly assembled pizzas. In Filomena's kitchen, you could always be sure to find a fresh baked sweet treat to accompany a freshly brewed cup of espresso coffee, as well as some lively conversation.

We will always remember Filomena for her beautiful smile, her vivacious laughter and her spirited sense of humor. Her kind heart and generous nature will stay with us forever.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. David's Church 2601 Major Mackenzie Dr., Maple.

Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
