Filippo
Lannutti
August 11, 1938 – March 29, 2026
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Filippo. He will be missed by his loving wife of 50 years Anna, and his daughters Nina (Domenic) and Teresa. Predeceased by his parents Camillo and Nina and his siblings Beatina, Nunzia, Nick, and survived by his sister Maria, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and his many nieces and nephews.
Filippo was born in Italy in the town of Gessopalena in the province of Chieti. At 17 years old wanting to make a better life for himself Filippo moved to Bern, Switzerland where he lived and worked for 10 years. In 1965 Filippo immigrated to Canada to join his brother Nick, and 10 years later he married his wife Anna, who together built a life surrounded by family and friends.
Filippo worked in construction, was hardworking and found joy in simple, meaningful things like tending to his garden with meticulous care, watching each season bring new life from the soil. His garden was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his steady dedication.
Filippo had a sharp mind and a passion for politics, history, and current affairs. He followed the world closely, always eager to understand it more deeply and to discuss it with those around him. Conversations with him were rarely brief—he welcomed debate, encouraged different perspectives, and believed strongly in the value of thoughtful dialogue. Whether you agreed with him or not, you left those conversations thinking more deeply.
Above all, he was a devoted husband and father. His presence a source of strength, his guidance sincere. He taught by example—how to care, how to think critically, and how to stand firm in one’s beliefs while still listening to others.
He will be remembered for his intellect, his warmth, and the values he passed on. His absence leaves a quiet space in our lives, though his spirit lives in the lives he touched and his beloved family.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
