It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Agatha Fisher, affectionately known as “Miss Effie,” who passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at the age of 92. Evelyn was born in Maldon, St. James, Jamaica, to Martin and Maud Jarrett. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend whose kindness, strength, generosity, and love touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind her children: Lorna, Sonia, Marvet, Danny, Dahlia, Donald, and Keiton; her beloved grandchildren; sisters Hyacinth and Louise; sons-in-law J.C. and Dervent; daughters-in-law Michelle and Doreth; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Evelyn dedicated her life to caring for her family and helping others in her community. A hardworking farmer, she ensured her family was always provided for through determination and sacrifice. She enjoyed cooking and baking potato and cornmeal puddings and was especially known for her delicious cowfoot dish. Her warmth, humour, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family will forever be remembered. A visitation will be held at Ward’s Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, on June 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on June 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Brampton Seventh-day Adventist Church, 37 Millstone Drive, Brampton. Interment will follow at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brampton Seventh-day Adventist Church Building Fund. The family would like to thank Dr. Li, all PSWs and caregivers, especially Mary, for their care and support during this difficult time.
“Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.”
