Eugene Howard McNeil

Eugene Howard McNeil, died November 30, 2025 at his home in Etobicoke Toronto Ontario.
Eugene was born July 5 1944 in Little Bay, Westmoreland, Jamaica to his parents Mrs. Ivy Clark-McNeil and Mr. Arthur McNeil. He was one of 15 children being the fourth born.  Eugene moved to Canada May 28, 1970 where he met his first lovely wife Matilda Christian (Fay). Together they raised five children, Michael, Mark, Michel, Marsha and Matthew.  Eugene also played a pivotal role in the raising of his first five beautiful children, Wayne(Carl), Wayne, Barbara, Moreland, and Howard.  Having many grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was able to display a softer and kinder love that will be cherished forever by all who got to experience it.

After the passing of his first wife and honouring her wishes not to stay alone, Eugene remarried Ann-Marie Blackwood who loved and stood by him in his Ministry and cared for him to the very end.  In 1971, Eugene started his career as an employee for Inglis, assembling household appliances. He would continue to work there for 16 years.  In the nineties, he started driving the local taxi.  He also upgraded his education and attended George Brown college and graduated in Air Conditioning and Appliance Repair.  After graduating, he started his own family business, McNeil’s Home Appliances and Repair.

Starting out with a store front, he continued his business working out of his home. He was able to sustain his business right to the end through repeat and loyal clients who appreciated his charm and integrity.  Eugene, also known as General Overseer Bishop Eugene Howard McNeil, was a devout believer and Child of God for over 50 years.  Accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, he climbed up the ranks from Brother, Deacon and Missionary to become Pastor of his small flock in the Rexdale branch of The Church of God P.G.O.T.T.  Later, he was ordained Bishop and Overseer of all branches.  General Overseer Bishop Eugene McNeil, was loved and respected by many who called on him for guidance and counsel, prayer, encouragement and support.  He undoubtedly loved his parishioners, always providing comfort and assistance to those in need even the ones that no longer attended P.G.O.T.T.

Eugene Howard McNeil is survived by his second wife, 10 children, 43 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to the Milvan branch of the Church of God P.G.O.T.T. in aid of the Church building fund, a cause that was near and dear to Bishop Eugene’s heart.
