In Loving Memory of Etelka Pinter
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Etelka Pinter on November 29, 2025, peacefully in her home, just one week shy of her 96th birthday. She is predeceased by her husband Karoly (2000) and survived by her children Carl (Alicia) and Rodney, and her grand-daughter, Adrianna.
Eta, or Anyu as she was known to close friends and extended family, lived a full and storied life. She truly was a trailblazer, acquiring her license to drive up to 10 ton vehicles in Budapest in the 1950’s. Very few women at the time were able to achieve such an accomplishment. She was part of the Resistance in 1956 and drove an ambulance at the height of the revolution. It was during that tumultuous time that she had met her future husband, who was working as a paramedic. Together, they fled the country and eventually found their way to Canada, where they married in 1963, and settled in Toronto to raise their children.
Eta’s life was her family, who gave her such immense pride and joy, and it was the source of her sense of duty to family that resonated with everything she did. She lived her life for her family, never once putting her needs or wants before those of her boys or husband. She worked tirelessly throughout her life, only retiring at the age of 77. Eta has touched the lives of many friends and colleagues in her long life. Although she will be missed greatly, those who knew her can rejoice in the many memories of her long and loving life, and be at peace knowing that she lived a full and exemplary life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
