Ermelinda Mongiat (nee Pagnacco)

November 15, 1922 – May 14, 2025

Ermelinda passed peacefully at home on May 14, 2025, at the age of 102. Ermelinda was born in Colle Di Arba, Fruili, Italy on November 15, 1922, to Vittorio and Maria, and was one of four children, her sisters Angelina and Regina, and her brother Giovanni preceded her in their passing.

Ermelinda is now reunited with the love of her life, Antonio. She was the cherished mother of Laura and Roberto and proud Nonna of Anastasia. Ermelinda will be remembered for her bountiful energy, courage, strong work ethic, love of travel and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

She enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. Especially travelling the world with Antonio, and spending time on the beach. She was an excellent bocce, cards, and bowl player. Ermelinda was a very social person, and was a part of many groups, like the Famee Furlane Club. In her free time, she could be found tending to her vegetable and flower gardens or doing aerobics and aquagym.

A special thank you to Olga and Delores, her caregivers, who have been a source of support and companionship for the past 10 years.

Memorial donations may be made in Ermelinda’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (2035 Weston Road, York) on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ward Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery.
