Ercilio Dinis Tavares

Born in the Azores, Portugal, Ercilio passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Brampton Civic Hospital at the age of 92 years. Cherished husband of Cecilia, sharing 53 years of marriage. Beloved father of Margaret Tavares (Glenn Thistle) and Christine Tavares (Richard Shouli). Proud Vavo to Katelynn, Zaccary and Aubrey. Dear brother to Ines, Maria, late Laudalina and late Yolanda. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Manuel Jose and Laurentina Tavares. Also survived by his many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Ercilio celebrated his retirement in 1998 from the Chrysler plant in Brampton after 32 years as a mechanic, a very important day for him. His greatest joy in life was his family, of whom he was so proud. He was greatly loved and he will be greatly missed.

Private family services will be held. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers the Tavares family suggests memorial donations be made to Brampton Civic Hospital www.williamoslerhs.ca
