Elwood Holmes

Elwood Theran Holmes passed away peacefully in the presence of his family April 24, 2023 in Toronto Ontario. Elwood was born October 24, 1932 in Whitby, Ontario to Charles Holmes and Carrie Bronson.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Harris, son David, and wife Penny, his former wife Susan and their children Lorri, Mandi and Daniel. His second son, Daniel. His daughter Carolyn and husband Kyle and children Sarah, Suzanne, Sandra, Stephanie, Shawna, Sherrianne, and Shannon. His eighteen dearly loved great grandchildren: Issac, Ava (deceased), Ella, Hailey, MacKenzie, Alexis, Grayson, Alora, Elena, Camille, Freya, Bjorn, Haas, Elisa, Stevie, Erik, Pierce, and Jack.

Elwood was sought out in his position of Director of Property Manager for his innovation in energy saving methods in the city of Toronto. Elwood went above and beyond in the work place with his staff, opening doors of opportunity for them, influencing and giving support in their lives and family.

He loved playing his harmonic, having fun with his grandchildren and always enjoyed a good cup of tea with toast.

Elwood loved life. He lived in the moment and looked for the good. His joy for others came through in his ‘ never meet a stranger” approach. Putting a smile on people’s faces was habitual and came shining through in conversation, his harmonica playing, and keen sense of humour.

The foundation of his approach to life was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Elwood served in his church for many years in leadership positions and simply helped where needed. Three weeks earlier he was serving coffee and tea after the morning church service.

He claimed and believed 1 John 11:25. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die”.

His family will dearly miss him, but we know we will see him again.

Visitation is on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 11am followed by the funeral service at 12pm at Capstone Community Bible Church (Formally Humbervale Park Baptist Church) 763 Royal York Road, Etobicoke , Ontario.
