With deep sadness and immense love we announce the passing of Niki Tzanopoulos at the Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit on July 24, 2026 at the age of 93.
She lived a long and meaningful life, rich with love, strength, and devotion to her family. Born and raised with traditional Greek values, she carried the wisdom, resilience, and warmth of the old country throughout her life. While she cherished old-school traditions, she also embraced the changing world with an open heart and mind, welcoming everyone with kindness, understanding, and unconditional love.
Family was the center of her life. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering around the table with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sharing meals, laughter, stories, and cherished memories.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Bill Tzanopoulos, of 67 years. They both emigrated from Greece and were married in Toronto where they built their life together. She is also survived by her beloved children Bessie (Kerry) and John (Kelly). Yiayia Niki will forever be remembered by her grandchildren, Thomas (Tanya), Nikki, Alexa and Krista, as well as her great-grandchildren, Lily and Stella.
Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Her strength, compassion, faith, and unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire us all.
