Elisabeth Egberts

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elisabeth Egberts, on October 29, 2025, at the age of 97.

Els was born on June 13, 1928, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1957, she immigrated to Canada with her family and proudly became a Canadian citizen in 1964. Els embraced her new home with optimism and warmth, building a life filled with love, creativity, and adventure.

She is survived by her four children: Jelly Massee (Brian Demers), Frederik Massee (Julie Nerbas), Sandra Ross (Steve Ross), and Wendy Turk (Andy Turk); her six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Els had a passion for travel and spent many happy years as a snowbird, escaping the Canadian winters. She was a talented artist whose hobbies included painting, crocheting, embroidery, and sewing. A devoted member of her church, Els sang joyfully in the choir for many years, sharing her beautiful voice and faith with her community.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Hank Egberts, whom she met at the Holland Christian Home. Els will be laid to rest beside him. Her family and friends will remember her for her gentle spirit, creativity, and love of life. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful, caring staff at Riverwood Senior Living in Alliston
