In Loving Memory of Elia Schembre
January 22, 2026 – Age 57
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elia Schembre on January 22, 2026, at the age of 57. Elia passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
Beloved husband of Menina for 24 cherished years. Devoted and proud father to Marco and Davide. Elia will be deeply missed by his mother Elisa (late Vincenzo), sisters Rosa (late Giovanni), Antonina (Michele), and brothers Gaspare (Maria), Antonino (Nina), Samuele (Rachele). He is also lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Carmela (late Giuseppe), father-in-law Michele, mother-in-law Angela, and brother-in-law Antonio (Tina). His many nieces and nephews will forever hold him in their hearts.
Elia is now reunited with his beloved father Vincenzo and dear brothers Giuseppe and Salvatore.
A man of quiet strength and deep devotion, Elia placed family above all else. Whether at home or abroad, he made every effort to stay connected—especially cherishing trips to his hometown in Italy to visit his mother and gather with his siblings. His warmth extended to his friends, with whom he shared countless memories. Summer get-aways at the cottage and fishing with his boys are among many fond memories that we will always cherish. A meticulous worker and a proud father, Elia approached life with care, purpose, and love.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
“Forever loved, always remembered.”
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine valley Dr.) on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday January 30, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
