(ELI) ALEX POLOWYK Alex Polowyk was born in 1916 and died October 21, 2010, peacefully in his sleep at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Minnie (nee Welyki) and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Cherished father of Pat Hurley (Ken), Marianne Gibson (Tom), Mike (Debra) and Chris (Marie). Loving Jiji of 12 grandchildren - Kelly (Erik), Matthew, Rob, Daryl, Michelle, Derek (Carly), Lauren, Kyle, Julianne, Ryan, Heather and Kari and Great-Jiji of Liam. Alex had 3 brothers and 2 sisters (all deceased) and grew up in Insinger, Saskatchewan. He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Unit No. 435. He was an employee of McDonnell Douglas and retired at the age of 68 in 1984. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.), Weston on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Ward Chapel on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
