Douglas Evans

Surrounded by his family, Doug Evans passed peacefully on Monday June 3, 2024.
Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2007, Doug faced his uphill cancer battle with determination and courage, serving as an inspiration to many. He credits his resilience to the unwavering support of his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara, daughters Lisa and Michelle, and friends who became family. He was a proud grandfather to Nathan, Veronica, Abigail and Emmett with whom he shared his love of ice cream. A dedicated employee of Toronto Hydro and a passionate cyclist, Doug's life was touched by many friendships, especially those of the Bloor West Village Idiots who rode alongside Doug as he crossed the finish line of his first Ride to Conquer Cancer only one year after his first stem cell transplant. Doug will be remembered as someone who never failed to step in when he saw a need he could fulfill. He volunteered his time at the Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) until being diagnosed with leukemia in 2023. Donations to EHS would be appreciated by the family, ensuring Doug's spirit of servitude continues to benefit his beloved furry friends. Donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital or Humber River Regional Hospital Cancer Care Unit where Doug received treatment would also be appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please reach out to the Evans family for details.
