Doug passed away peacefully on Sunday February 24, 2013 at the age of 95. Survived by his loving and devoted wife Eva (nee Plummer)
Doug lived a long and happy life. He was a loving Father to Bruce (Tracy), Jill Mallory (Steve), and was a proud grandfather “Poppa” to Kelsey, Elliott, Michelle, Susie and Graham.
Doug was a veteran enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was an accomplished and successful business owner of Haig Printing and Business Forms which he and Eva started together. He was a former President of Don Mills Rotary and the Weston Golf and Country Club. Doug was a co-founder of York Mills Hockey club and he was a golfer, curler and fitness enthusiast.
He spent many wonderful years at the family cottage on Lake Simcoe where his grandchildren all spent their summers and enjoyed time with Poppa. Doug will be remembered for his kindness and great energy which was an inspiration to us all. Doug was very blessed and thankful for his many friends in life. His sense of humour brightened the lives of all who knew him.
A family service was held at St Johns Anglican Church York Mills. Memorial donations may be made to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Toronto or the charity of your choice.
