Dorothy Cornish (Dunsworth)

April 3, 1933 – April 18, 2025

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Dorothy Vivian Cornish (Toronto, Ontario), leaving to mourn family and many friends. Dorothy left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday April 18, 2025 (Good Friday evening) at the age of 92. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, George and Hazel Dunsworth; her husband Ern; her brother George and her sister Shirley. Dorothy is survived by her niece June Cormier and nephew Robert Dunsworth. 

Dorothy grew up in a Christian home in Halifax, NS. She shared that at the age of 9 she was converted in a Decision Sunday School…and she was called to Officership during the Cadets’ commissioning service. She entered The Salvation Army’s training college in 1954 – 1955 in the Soul Winners’ Session. She served as an Officer in Westville, Liverpool, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. In Ontario, her service as a Captain in Willowdale in Corps appointments. She served as Captain in Corrections and also in Men’s Social. On August 2,1969 Dorothy married the love of her life Ern Cornish. They attended The Salvation Army Earlscourt and Yorkminister Citadel. Ern was Promoted to Glory in 1988. Dorothy loved the Lord and Saviour and always asked if you loved the Lord also…

Memorial Service - Saturday May 17, 2025 Visitation - 10:00am Followed by Service - 11:00am Salvation Army Yorkminister Citadel, 1 Lord Seaton Road, North York, ON M2P 2C1
