Donna Carol Calwell left us in the early morning on March 8, 2012. Her bright and ready smile will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, particularly around the bridge table.
Donna was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on June 24, 1944. There, at the University of North Dakota, she met Norman Calwell (deceased), her beloved husband of almost 30 years and came with him to Brampton, Ontario, which has been her home for the last 45 years.
Donna taught English at Brampton Centennial Secondary School from its opening until her retirement in 1998. She was a passionate teacher who showed special kindness to students for whom academics were not a priority.
Donna’s manners were impeccable, even during her hospital stay over the last five weeks. She was a wonderful mother, a strong ally and a loyal friend. She always knew the right thing to do. All of us will feel the loss of her guidance and support.
Tremendous thanks to the staff at Brampton Civic Hospital who showed great kindness to both Donna and daughter Carolyn, as well as to all of those friends who provided support through visits, notes and messages.
Friends are invited to celebrate Donna`s life on Monday, March 12th at the Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel" 52 Main Street South (Hwy #10), Brampton starting at 11 a.m. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Donna's honour to the Canadian Lung Association or the Brampton Public Library.
