It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don at Guelph General Hospital on Sunday June 7, 2015. Beloved husband of 52 years of Marlene (nee McCauley). Much loved and devoted father of Grant (Karen) and Marney. Very proud Poppa of Ty and Gage. Don loved to tell stories to his boys and enjoyed so much watching them play hockey and lacrosse. Don was born in Toronto December 18, 1940 the third child of the late Lloyd and Vivian (nee Cain) Thompson. He is survived by his brother Lloyd (Margaret) his sister Gwen (Bob) Presant and sister Shelly. Don was a successful businessman a retired member of the Rotary Club of Brampton and good friend. He loved woodworking being outdoors, golfing, planting a garden, hunting and fishing and will be remembered for his kindness sense of humor and always having a joke to share.
Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel” 52 Main Street South, (Highway 10) in Brampton on Thursday June 11, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on Friday June 12, 2015 at Grace United Church, 156 Main Street North, Brampton at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Providence Cemetery in Caledon.
In lieu of flowers donation to The Canadian Lung Association, Canadian Liver Foundation, Guelph General Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
