Donald H. Fitzsimons
July 25, 1920 – December 19, 2015
Don passed away peacefully at his home at Southbrook Retirement Home in Brampton Born in Ottawa, the fifth of six siblings to parents Harvey and Eliza - Isabel who met in the romantic environment of the Klondike during the Gold Rush. Don’s career was about aircraft. Starting with his education at Central Tech as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in the thirties’ leading to an instructor’s role as a Flight Sergeant with the RCAF at Hagersville during World War II then joining TCA (Trans Canada Airlines) and later Massey Ferguson, ultimately Argus with time at Bombardier writing the manuals for the Challenger/Regional Jet. . On a snowy December 29, 1944, Don was married to Jeanette (nee Moss), the love of his life, who predeceased Don in 1995, after 50 wonderful years of marriage. Don was a man of incredible strength and toughness with impeccable manners. Don and Jeannette had four loving sons, Donald (Darlene), Bill (Darlene), John (Judy), and Peter (Susan), who all inherited their father’s manners and a love of the outdoors. Don has nine grandchildren, Anthony, Angela, Shawn, David, Erin, Michael, Vanessa, Robin and Marnie, as well as eight and a half great grandchildren, Zoe, Maija, Emma, Zachery, Ty, Libby, Eli, Archer and one on the way. A funeral service will be held on January 9, 1:00 PM at Christ Church Brampton located at 4 Elizabeth Street N at the corner of Elizabeth and Queen Streets.
