Domenica Del Re (nee Simone)

February 2, 1930 - January 31, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest matriarch, Domenica Del Re (nee Simone). Domenica passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on January 31, 2024 in her 93^rd year. She was born on February 2, 1930 in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy to Francesco and Graziella Simone, and was the oldest of four children.

Domenica met the love of her life Giuseppe with whom she is now reunited, in their hometown in 1947, and they were married on December 4^th, 1948. Domenica and Giuseppe were inseparable for 67 years and cherished every moment they had together and with their family. Together they had 3 children. She was a devoted mother to Carmela (Giacomo), Vito (Erika), and Grace (Stefano). Herself and her family moved to Toronto in 1957 in search of a bright future.

Domenica was the proud grandmother of Teresa (Robert), Mimma (Antonio), Joey, Michael (Erika), Paola (Marco),  Luis (Tara), Natasha (Michael), Alessandra (Tyler), and Matteo (Marina). Loving great-grandmother to Sara, Sebastian, ,Alessia, Emma, Aiden, Alexander, Emma, Alessia, Charlie, Brielle, Naia, Leo, Michele and Mason. She is now reunited with siblings Michele, Carlo, and Lucia (Angelo). She will be greatly missed by sisters-in-law Enza, Lina and Anna, and brother-in-law Antonio.

Domenica will be remembered as a loving mother, who would do anything for her family. She was very easy going, and was happy doing anything as long as she had her family nearby.

Domenica will be forever loved and sorely missed.

Friends and family will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Parish (100 Bainbridge Avenue, Woodbridge). Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. 

Donations may be made in Domenica's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
