Dianne Marie Townson

It is with great sadness that the Townson family announces the sudden passing of Dianne Marie Townson (née Penhale) on Thursday, January 4th, 2024 in her 82nd year. Dianne was predeceased by her loving husband, Barry Saunders Townson, her parents, Doris and Orville Penhale, and her brother Gary Penhale.  She is survived by her brother Ted Penhale (Janis). Dianne will be sadly missed by her four step children: Diana Bromelow (Joost), David Townson (Erica), Rachel Townson, Michael Townson (Heather), her grandchildren, and her loving Penhale clan and close lifetime friends.

Known as a mischievous girl with a quick wit, Dianne always enjoyed a great laugh. But she also had a tenacious side that got right down to business when needed. In her working career, Dianne held positions at various branch and regional offices with the Bank of Montreal, ultimately climbing the banking ladder at the CIBC. Upon her retirement in 1993, she left as a General Manager of the CIBC Leadership Centre, beginning what she considered to be the ‘good years’.

Building her dream home ‘Greycrest’, in the country with Barry and their beloved dogs, Dianne began enjoying a simpler life, taking on small town opportunities in Grey Bruce County. She worked with local artists and shops, worked on a local literacy council and library board, and provided private tutor reading lessons. Dianne wanted to continue learning throughout her life, and worked tirelessly to make changes for the better in the communities in which she lived; getting funding for a new hospital in Markdale, and a sidewalk built in Oakville.

Dianne will be laid to rest in the Penhale family plot at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, in Etobicoke, Ontario, with her husband Barry at her side once again. A graveside family service will be held on Friday, January 19th at 1:00 pm.
