Dennis Elie

September 6, 1940 – April 10, 2026.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Dennis Elie in his 86th year with his beloved children by his side.

A devoted husband and father, Dennis spent his life putting family first. He leaves behind the love of his life of 63 years, Jean Elie, and his cherished children, Karen (Roy) McCullough, Kevin Elie, Joanne Ross (Tim Lilliman), as well as his doggy grandson, Timmy. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his grandson, Joshua (Diana) Jeffrey, and great granddad to Emmy & Rylie, who were the light of his life.

Dennis will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Suzanne Elie, nieces and nephews, including Tim (Deb) Richardson, Kelly (Andy) Cameron, and Sean Horswell, along with many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is now reunited with loving parents, Florence Kelly and Paul Elie, and his dear siblings Judy Horswell and Ted Elie, and his cherished dog, Rocky, along with his doggy grandson, Casey – welcomed with wagging tails and love.

Family was everything to Dennis. He was a constant source of strength, support, and love – always present, always dependable, and always putting others before himself. His kindness, humour, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Dennis had a deep passion for sports and was a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Toronto Blue Jays. He especially loved his Dolphins, sticking with them through every season, and we like to think they’ll finally get him a win this year.

We are deeply grateful to our dear friends and family for the love, care, and support you showed our dad while we were away: Kim (Robin) Wallace, Dianne Douglas, Sue Bolton, Cheri MacPhail, Brenda Palmer, and Pat Pirie. Your kindness means more to us than words can express.

The family would also like to extend their sincere thanks to his family doctor, Dr. Veenema, and the Queen Square team, for the exceptional care, support, and compassion they provided throughout Dennis’ life. A special thank you is also extended to the nurses and care team on the 4th floor (Gen Med) at William Osler Hospital (Brampton), for their compassion, kindness, and support during his final days. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Spectrum Healthcare, including the PSWs and nurses, for their dedicated home visits.

Donations in Dennis’ memory may be made to the Canadian Juvenile Diabetes Association or The Covenant House (Toronto), which were close to his heart.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
