Delphine Ella Lichty, born on February 4, 1932, in Lisbon, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on November 30, 2025, at the age of 93. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and creativity.
Delphine, affectionately known as Del, had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She cherished summer family time spent camping at their trailer, fishing, and boating—activities that brought joy and togetherness with her husband and children. Her love for nature and her family was evident in every moment shared under the sun.
Despite having only an 8th-grade education, Del demonstrated a remarkable work ethic from a young age, beginning her career at the Arrow Shirts factory in Kitchener as a teenager. She often reminisced about her time there, which shaped her understanding of hard work and determination.
As a homemaker, Delphine was a woman of great faith and a supportive mother. She always placed her family at the center of her life, creating a nurturing environment filled with love and cherished traditions. In her younger years, she took up painting and ceramics, exploring her artistic talents and creating beautiful pieces that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her loved ones. Additionally, her skills in knitting, crochet, and needlepoint allowed her to craft treasured family heirlooms, lovingly given to each of her children on their wedding days.
Delphine is reunited with her late husband, Mervyn, who predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by her sons Brant, Gary (Kathleen), Dennis (Michele), and daughter Marilyn Medved. Delphine was a proud Gramma to Matthew (Brittany), Michael, Kyle, Mikaela (Dan), Carly (Taylor), Shane (Gen), Jake, Cody, Noah (Emily), and Jonah (Brianna). She also leaves behind her cherished role as Great Gramma to Maizie, Lola, Zoe, and Paisley.
Delphine is also remembered by her sister, Shirley Schmidt (late Lloyd), and brothers Stewart Schneider (Miriam), and Lloyd Schneider (Marianne), who were an important part of her life.
Delphine Ella Lichty's legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to family will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her memory will be forever carried in the hearts of her family and friends, as they remember a remarkable woman who embraced life with unwavering spirit and grace.
