It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest family patriarch Davor Stefan. Dr. Stefan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in his 83rd year after a brief illness. Davor was born to Ivo and Marija Stefan in Zagreb, Croatia on June 15, 1940.

Davor will be lovingly remembered by Astrid. Cherished father of Dennis and father in law to Anna. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Noah and Alyssa. Predeceased by his dear brother Kreso.

He lived a full life and created countless happy memories that will live fondly in the hearts of his family and friends. Davor was a family man. He was the life of any party. He was also very intelligent and hardworking with a vibrant and colourful personality.

He came to Canada in 1966 on a scholarship and did his post graduate studies at McMaster and continued at University of Toronto where he earned his PhD in 1972. He was also an entrepreneur and proud business owner of Pennkote Ltd. for almost 45 years.

Davor treasured his three grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. They thought he was the coolest grandfather around as not many other grandpas would be seen driving a Harley and wearing an earring. Davor loved all kinds of music, including Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, the Beatles and Elvis Presley. He also loved tennis, wine, his Harley, cigars and the news.

He will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10:00-12:00 a.m. Funeral service will be held at the Ward Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery (2845 Bloor St W, Etobicoke). Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
